Specialty Camps

Families may choose from a variety of specialty camps, including design, photography, theater, sports, and more!

One-Week Specialty Camps

Kindergarten Readiness (rising K)
Week 8 ( August 7–11)
Half day, 9:00 am–12:30 pm, with the option to join Inly Day camp in the afternoon until 3:30 pm
Cost: $500 (half day); $600 (full day)

The transition from preschool to Kindergarten is a significant milestone in a young child’s life. Experts in this transition, Inly teachers have designed a program that will sharpen skills in a fun, exploratory environment! Your child will:

  • Practice letter and number recognition
  • Follow a routine and schedule to build confidence
  • Develop social/emotional skills through play
  • Practice fine motor skills through handwriting
  • Begin phonics and decoding
  • Work on number sense and math operations
  • Introduction to Montessori materials*

* Note: this program is not only for Kindergarteners attending Inly in the fall but also for other schools as well. Montessori materials reinforce concepts taught in general classrooms.

Sports Explorers (entering K–4th grades)
Weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Under the direction of Inly’s Sports Director, Thomas Mbungo, campers will spend their time outdoors participating in a sports clinic environment each day. We will venture into many of the regular sports offered in our Inly Athletics Curriculum, including Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, Field Hockey, Floor Hockey, Lacrosse, Spartan Challenge, Flag Rugby, Flag Football, Fitness and many more! Sportsmanship and being a good team player will also be focused on each day.

Cardboard Adventure (entering 1st–4th grades)
Week 3 (July 3–7)
Inspired by Antoinette Portis’ Not a Box book, campers, led by Inly’s LE teacher, Emily Doherty, will dive into a creative work of cardboard!! Cardboard cities, boats, ships, shields, mini-golf courses, oh my!! There is no end to the creativity we’ll use in this awesome week!

Wizarding Camp (entering 1st–4th grades)
Week 7 (July 31–August 4)
Dragon’s eggs, spellbooks, magic wands, potions and lotions, quidditch and more! Come join Inly’s LE teacher, Emily Doherty and explore the mythical and magical worlds of wizards!

Photography Art (entering 1st–4th grades)
Week 6 (July 24–28)
We’ll venture out around campus using Inly-provided digital cameras to capture photos! We’ll then print our photos and turn them into different works of art!

Introduction to Coding with Lego Spike (entering 2nd–4th grades)
Week 2 (June 26–30)
This 5-day camp outline will provide students with STEAM-focused, hands-on activities to promote 21st-century skills and social and emotional learning, as well as review math, language arts, and science concepts. Each day, students will participate in team-building activities and opportunities for physical activity, as well as receive a team briefing for challenges aligned to standards. Daily challenges will help students develop skills and knowledge to complete the culminating project of solving the problems that arise when designing, testing, and presenting games.

Pamper Your Plush Puppies (entering 2nd–5th grades)
Week 4 (July 10–14) 
Join us for a week of all things puppies! Not only will we stuff our own plush puppies and create custom accessories to pamper our fur babies, but we will also meet real-life dog experts. Look forward to live demos from dog trainers, agility trainers, and more!

Lego Engineering (Olympics) (entering 3rd–5th grades)
Week 3 (July 3–7) 
Ready to explore engineering with Legos? Lego Olympics is a STEAM-focused camp with hands-on activities to promote 21st-century skills and design engineering. Each day, campers will participate in team-building activities, engage in opportunities for physical activity, and receive a daily team briefing for daily challenges. These challenges will help students develop skills and knowledge to complete the culminating project of designing a new Lego Olympic event using the engineering techniques explored during the week.

So You Want to be a Designer (entering 3rd–6th grades)
Week 5 (July 17–21)
Are you interested in all things Design? Each day we’ll explore a different type of design and dive into different design challenges each day! Interior, industrial, fashion and pattern design are just a few of the design types we’ll learn about. This camp will be led by Inly’s LE teacher, Emily Doherty.

Canvas Masterpieces (entering 3rd–6th grades)
Weeks: 2, 4, 7 (June 26–30, July 10–14, July 31–August 4)
Professional artist and Inly substitute teacher, Dianne Legro, will lead this camp! Dianne will lead students through a series of different canvas painting techniques and styles! From acrylic to oil to watercolor, students will end their week with multiple incredible pieces of artwork!

Scituate Tidal Ecology (entering 3rd–6th grades)
Week 7 (July 31–August 4)
For generations, children have enjoyed exploring tide pools and discovering the fascinating plants and animals that live in this realm between the tides. Campers will learn to observe like a scientist and dive into the watery world of crabs, snails, clams, barnacles, sea stars, and more! Each day we will visit a Scituate beach to explore amazing saltwater creatures and plants up close at low tide. Back in the classroom, we will learn about the biology of tidal animals and plants, dissect starfish and clams, examine plankton under a microscope and conduct experiments to learn about beaches and seawater.

STEM Woodworking (entering 3rd–7th grades)
Week 2 (June 26–30)
Not your typical woodworking program! Camp starts off with each student building a small workbench that will be used throughout the week and goes home at the end of the camp. Kids will work on several projects, including building life-size Minecraft characters that will stay on campus, functional push cars, and picture frames, all while learning basic woodworking skills in a safe, supervised environment with traditional hand tools: hammers, saws, sanding blocks, clamp, and hand drills. Each fun day of camp includes ample outdoor breaks and playtime.

Project Inly (entering 4th–6th grades)
Week 4 (July 10–14)
Has your child ever wanted to learn how to make their own clothes?  This is the camp for them!  Each camper will make a dress or short and a top . . . campers will go on a field trip to the fabric store where they will have a budget to purchase the materials they need to bring their outfit to life!  Over the course of the week, campers will learn: basic machine sewing techniques, how to choose fabric, how to take measurements, and how to modify a pattern to make it fit. There will be a Project Inly Runway show on the last day of camp so they can model their creation for family and friends!

Adventures Abound (4th–6th & 7th–9th grades)
Ages 9–12 (entering 4th–6th)
Weeks: 2, 3, 6, 10 (June 26–30, July 3–7, July 24–28, August 21–25)

Ages 12–15 (entering 7th–9th)
Weeks: 1, 5, 7, 8 (June 20–23, July 17–21, July 31–August 4, August 7–11)

We’ll head out on our own Adventure and Challenge courses at Inly and meet each challenge head-on! From low ropes iron workers walk, our full house and whale watch to working our way up to climbing the different sides of our climbing tower, this week is sure to challenge you and grow you closer to your peers around you!

Digital Photography (entering 5th–9th grades)
Week 8 (August 7–11)
Professional fashion photographer Conor Doherty and his wife, Inly LE teacher Emily Doherty will take campers on an immersive week of all things photography—with day photography trips, capturing portraits and landscapes, and learning how to expertly edit photos! Personal digital cameras are highly recommended. Inly has a few digital cameras that campers can use/share if a camper does not have their own. 

Day Trippers (entering 6th–9th grades)
Weeks: 4, 9, 10 (July 10–14, August 14–18, August 21–25)
Nova Trampoline Park, Cape Cod Inflatable Park, Boda Borg, Codzilla and more! Each day we’ll head off on a new adventure trip! Cost of this camp includes lunch, transportation, and admission fees. Each week of camp will offer different trips!

Design Studio (4th–6th & 7th–9th grades)
Ages 9–12 (entering 4th–6th)
Weeks: 4, 6 (July 10–14, July 24–28)

Ages 12–15 (entering 7th–9th)
Weeks: 2, 5 (June 26–30, July 17–21)

3D Printing, Laser Cutter, Screen Printing and more! From board games to stickers to toys and clothing, this week you’ll be able to design and create from your own imagination!

New England Fishing Academy
Ages: 9–15 (must know how to swim)
Weeks: 1 & 3 (June 20–23, July 3–7)

We provide all of the tackle and life jackets. We will provide anything your child needs to be successful and learn to fish. Looking for something new for your child? The New England Fishing Academy is perfect for any child who loves the outdoors and fishing or is interested in learning and trying it out. They will not only have a great time, but they will learn from professional educators who are experts in coaching and teaching children. We educate, develop and give the confidence that every child needs to enjoy the great outdoors!

CIT (4-week sessions – weeks 2-5 & 6-9)
Session 1: Weeks 2–5 (June 26–July 21—Must attend all 4 weeks)
Session 2: Weeks 6–9 (July 24–August 18—Must attend all 4 weeks)
Ages: 13–15 (entering 8th–9th grade)
Are you mature, like to lead and love kids? Then make the most of your summer by helping children make the most of theirs and join our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program. Our CIT program is specifically designed for teens aged 13 to 15 who want to develop their leadership skills in working with children. CITs will learn behavior management, team-building, communication and activity leadership by helping counselors work with younger campers. Supervised by our CIT Directors, CITs will have the hands-on opportunity to assist group counselors, teach activities and plan special events. Plus, a session day trip will give the group the added chance to discuss camp experiences and build relationships.

 

Two-Week Specialty Camps

The camps below will run for 2 consecutive weeks. Due to the nature of these camps, campers need to be able to attend both weeks of camp.

Musical Theater Studio
Ages 6 – 8 (entering 1st – 3rd grade)
Weeks: June 20 – June 30, 2023 (Weeks 1 & 2)
Under the direction of Inly’s Movement, Music and Theater Teacher, Colleen Quinn, this program will immerse the young actor in the world of musical theater through acting, dancing, games, and improvisation exercises. Campers will be engaged in all aspects of the production from choosing the play to designing costumes and creating the set and programs for the final production. The two-week session will culminate in a production of the students’ choosing. New and seasoned theater enthusiasts are welcome!

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella Camp
Ages 9 –18 (rising 3rd grade and above)
Weeks: August 7 – 20, 2023 (weeks 8 & 9)
*performances will take place on August 18, 19 and 20*

Break a Leg Theater Works’ and The Inly School are immensely proud to present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella – Youth Edition Musical!

Additional details will be coming soon (in regards to auditions for lead roles as well as additional rehearsal times for lead roles.) All students enrolled will have a part in the ensemble and there is no need to audition if your student does not wish to have a lead role.
