Announcement of 2012 Musical Theater Production!
9/23/2011
Inly's week ended on a festive note at Friday's morning arrivals for students, parents, faculty, and staff with the eagerly-awaited announcement of this year's musical production. Head of School, Donna Milani Luther, dressed up as Willy Wonka and passed out nut-free chocolate "wonka" bars (to grow-ups!) to showcase Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka as this year's selection. As they walked into school, Inly students had surprised smiles, but this kind of fun and creativity is nothing new for the Inly Community, which has a strong tradition in performing arts.
Building on the success of last year's Beauty and the Beast, which sold out all performances, the Inly Players will bring to life Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, the story of the legendary candy maker and his search for an heir. The story is a stage adaptation of Dahl's childhood classic Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and features popular songs from the family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Performances are scheduled over two weekends in February and March 2012.
Joining the cast for a second year, local news celebrity Scott Wahle will play the role of Willy Wonka. His Inly Players debut as the Beast last year was well-received and Milani Luther said, "Scott is a truly talented actor and great friend of Inly. I am thrilled to work with him again this year."
Founded in 2007, the Inly Players theater troupe includes faculty, staff members, parents, trustees, alumni, students in grade 3 and up, and friends of Inly, who enjoy the collaborative process of putting on a show.
