Inly Students Pilot Environmental Science Project with NSRWA

Environmental science field work in Norwell MA with Inly School students

Inly students present findings at NSRWA annual meeting in Norwell

On Friday night, November 4, a team of Inly's Upper Elementary students gave a presentation at the annual meeting of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association (NSRWA) at the South Shore Science Center in Norwell MA, to present findings from their ongoing environmental science project work with the organization. They displayed a series of posters and models that highlight the species they found, the measurements they took, and other scientific observations.

Hands-on science and experiential learning

Over the past two months, these students have partnered with the NSRWA in Norwell to help take and measure water samples one day a week, as part of an innovative experiential field work science project. This pilot program is part of an NSRWA initiative to help raise awareness among young people about the fragile ecosystem of the Herring Brook. It is also part of the larger Service Learning Program in the Upper Elementary classes at Inly School.
