Ongoing interactive art activities include cave drawing, Taku t-shirt making, mummy wrapping, hieroglyphic writing, clay vessel inscribing, and pyramid painting, as well as origami and do-it-yourself Kabuki faces. In keeping with the mission of the school, activities will be hands-on, interactive, experiential, process-oriented, and educational; encourage people to look at things in new and different ways; and endeavor to integrate life and art.
Family workshops in fencing, dance, and Taiko drumming
In addition to live performances and hands-on art projects, the festival will offer small-format family workshops throughout the afternoon. Learn fencing with Scituate’s own Jim Mullarkey of
3MB Fencing Club, Isadora Duncan dance with Inly’s master dance teacher and choreographer Colleen Quinn, and
Taiko drumming with members of Passion East. See schedule below.
Professional face painting and "special effects" stations
Back by popular demand,
Gin C Productions will have four professional airbrush makeup artists on hand to paint faces in a variety of patterns in keeping with our Ancient Civilizations theme. After getting made up, visitors can have their photograph taken by South Shore portrait photographer Heidi Harting. Then head to the stage in the Meehan Family Artsbarn and "Walk Like an Egyptian" through our high-tech green-screen special effects station for a virtual trip to ancient lands.
