A Day in Children's House Preschool

8:15
My mom drops me off at school and I run out of the car and towards my classroom to see who might already be there, or maybe I am the first one there today.

8:20
I go to my cubby to hang up my coat, hang up my backpack and put on my slippers. One of the three-year-olds is having a hard time putting on her slippers, so I help her.

8:25
Our names are laid out on the table outside my classroom and I find my name and hang it up. One of friends can’t find his name. We do it together. His name begins with the same sound as mine.

8:30
I go into my classroom say good morning to my teachers and a friend. My teacher reminds me I have to start with the work that has my name tag on it from yesterday. I finish working on the 100 Board, show it to my teacher, and then put it away.

9:00
I choose a work from the sensorial area. I am going to trace the pink tower, cut out the tracings and glue them on a piece of big white paper. I love the pink tower. I want to cut my tower cubes out perfectly.

9:30
My pink tower tracing was a long work. I am going to have some snack now. I go over to the snack area and find there are no clean dishes. I get to wash some dishes. I really like to wash dishes. I find a friend who would like to do this with me and have snack with me too.

 9:45
The art teacher comes in and sets up her table. She is going to do a project on positives and negatives. She has brought in the beautiful paper cutters with the swirly designs. I am going to be one of the first ones at art today.

10:15
The teacher invites me for a new lesson using the golden beads. This is wonderful. I have been watching my other friends use the golden beads and now it is my turn. We get a big rug out. I really like big rug works. The golden beads are smooth and cool. We can make big numbers!

10:30
The bell rings and that is our cue to stop and listen to our teachers. I pick up my beadwork and go sit on the circle line.

10:40
Today at circle our teachers give us a lesson on land forms. She shows us how to carefully pour the water into the forms. I can’t wait to pour the water into the forms to make a peninsula tomorrow. I will also know where to find this work on the shelf. We listen to the book “Clouds” by Eric Carle. He is our author study this month.

11:00
I was called to be the line leader. That means I get to call the rest of the class up to line. I call a kindergartener up first. She is really nice. She sees that my shoe is untied and asks if she can help me tie it. I cannot wait until I am 5. I will be able to tie shoes too. I help a friend zip their coat. I am really good at zipping. I am 4 years old.

11:10
We are going to the playground. There are swings, a slide and the spider web climber there. Perhaps some friends are playing “Duck, duck, goose.” I also get to see my other friends and teachers from the other Children’s Houses.

11:30
The bell rings to line up to go home. My teachers bring us up to dismissal. I cannot wait to tell my mom all the fun the fun things I learned today. Most of all I cannot wait to come back tomorrow.
